Gales Point is a small creole village in Belize, an enchanting place. Nestled in this small village lives artists and hardworking villagers dedicated to keeping their culture and customs alive.

About Gales Point Manatee

The village is governed by a local Village Council, currently chaired by Ms. Katherine Dawson. Communication is a challenge, but some homes and businesses have telephones. Phone calls to most are done primarily through the Village phone (209-8031), located in the center of the community.

Conservation is an important aspect of village life. The registered group Gales Point Wildlife Sanctuary Community Management Committee, is working with the Forest Department on the management of the Gales Point (West Indian Manatee) Wildlife Sanctuary. Mr. Kevin Andrewin is the Committee’s current chairperson.

With mountains in the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east of this complex yet serene lagoon system, it is a destination for land and water adventurers. The village is rich in culture, tradition. Combined with a backdrop of inspiring scenic beauty and rich wildlife, Gales Point Manatee Village and the Wildlife Sanctuary together form a special piece of Belize.
